Easter Sunday & Meals On Wheels

The annual tradition of Easter meal deliveries continues this Sunday when Meals On Wheels volunteers deliver hot meals to about 120 homebound seniors in Ada County. Ordinarily Meals On Wheels clients get frozen meals for the weekends. But Easter Sunday is special and volunteers will start packaging the hot meals about 11:30 a.m. at the Boise Senior Activities Center, 690 Robbins Road. Then volunteers will pick up the meals at 12 noon, and make deliveries to the area seniors who have requested them.

The Easter Sunday meals will include savory baked ham, mixed vegetables, sweet potatoes, a dinner roll, milk, and blueberry cheesecake for dessert. Each meal will be delivered with a hand-decorated bag containing the cold items. The Easter bags were decorated by students at Seven Oaks Elementary in Eagle.

On an ordinary weekday the Meals On Wheels program delivers hot, nutritious meals to over 600 homebound elderly in Ada and Elmore counties.  Easter meal delivery is made possible because of the volunteer efforts of Central District Health Department staff and more than 30 community volunteers.  For more information on the program please visit the CDHD website.
