Holiday Break A Good Time For a Flu Shot
It's the holidays. The kids are home from school, the relatives are in town and the last thing you want to worry about is getting sick. Why not take this opportunity to bring the family in for a seasonal influenza vaccination? The flu shot is your best defense against getting sick with the flu this season. Flu season typically peaks in February, so you can still protect yourself, the ones you love and those you work with.
The Central District Health Department (CDHD) will continue to offer walk-in flu clinics at its offices in Boise, Mountain Home and McCall until all the flu vaccine is gone.
Boise - The Boise immunization clinic will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday December 24th and will be closed on Christmas day, but regular hours apply for the rest of the week. For more information call 327-7450.
Mountain Home - The Mountain Home office will be closed Monday December 24th and Christmas day, but will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. the rest of the week. Walk-in flu clinics are held Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - Noon and from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 587-4407.
McCall - The McCall office will be closed Monday December 24th and Christmas day, but will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. the rest of the week. To make an appointment, or for more information call 630-8001. Information on clinic hours and appointments can be found on the CDHD website: cdhd.idaho.gov.
Even if you have already gotten your flu shot you can still help to prevent the spread of the disease by washing your hands frequently, sneezing or coughing into a tissue, getting plenty of rest and exercise, and by staying home when you're sick.
