Coping With the Medicare Part D
Doughnut Hole

Central District Health Now Offering Help

One of the most frustrating aspects of Medicare Part D is the so-called Doughnut Hole in coverage that occurs when an individual reaches a certain level of drug expenditures. Upon reaching the doughnut hole, Medicare recipients must pay the full cost of drugs, instead of a small co-payment. Hoping to help Medicare Part D recipients, the Central District Health Department Diabetes Prevention and Control Program is adding computers and trained volunteers to the other services offered during to the health district’s monthly Cholesterol Screening at CDHD.

The monthly Cholesterol Screening occurs on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 – 9:00 a.m. at the Central District Health Department, 707 N Armstrong Place, Boise. The next Cholesterol Screening is scheduled for Tuesday June 7th. Medicare Part D assistance will continue to be offered monthly through October 2011.

The CDHD Diabetes Prevention and Control Program has also assembled a variety of resources about Medicare Part D on the health department’s website. Learn more by going to the Diabetes page of the CDHD website.
