Star Area Seniors Need You!

Their independence depends on volunteers

The Central District Health Department (CDHD) is planning on offering the popular Fit and Fall Proof™ classes to Star seniors beginning in mid-April, but first the program needs to recruit some volunteer class leaders. The training is free, the time commitment is only two days a week for just over an hour and rewards are priceless.

The Fit and Fall Proof™ volunteer instructor training will take place on Thursday March 3, 2011. The seven-hour class includes lunch. If interested you must register with Fit and Fall Proof™ program coordinator Lindsay Byars. Call her at 208-327-8591 for more information.

On average, an older American is treated every 18 seconds in an emergency room for a fall-related injury. Fit and Fall Proof™ classes help seniors prevent debilitating falls with strength and balance training. By becoming a Fit and Fall Proof™ volunteer instructor you can help keep area seniors happy, healthy and living independently.

Fit and Fall Proof™ classes are currently being offered throughout CDHD’s four county area. A complete schedule of Fit and Fall Proof™ classes available here.
