CDHD Announces Final Public Flu Clinics of the Year

The Central District Health Department (CDHD) has scheduled a pair of Point of Dispensing (POD) H1N1 flu clinics Monday December 21st. The two clinics will be the last offered this year and are the public’s best opportunity to get free vaccinations against the H1N1 flu before the holidays. Both clinics will operate from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. The H1N1 flu vaccine is now available to all persons six months of age and up.

One clinic will take place at the former Comp USA store, 1195 N Milwaukee St, Boise. The other will be held at Meridian Middle School, 1507 W 8th St., Meridian. Each clinic will be stocked with 2,300 doses of flu vaccine, with 1000 doses being the nasal spray. For parents of children younger than 10 years of age, these clinics are an excellent opportunity to get their children the second dose of vaccine they need for full immunization, without the sting of a needle. Children under 10 require two doses of the vaccine separated by at least 28 days.

Following these clinics CDHD is suspending both public flu clinics and school-based vaccination campaigns until after the start of the New Year. Meanwhile, additional vaccine is being shipped to physician offices and area pharmacies. To date, CDHD has administered just over 35,000 doses of vaccine through its public flu clinics and school-based vaccination campaigns. More than 49,000 doses of vaccine have been sent to medical offices, obstetricians, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Boise State University, nursing homes, hospitals, correctional facilities and pharmacies.

Future plans for free public access to the H1N1 flu vaccine will be announced in the near future.

Monday December 21st 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. former Comp USA store at 1195 N Milwaukee St, Boise.
Monday December 21st 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Meridian Middle School, 1507 W 8th St, Meridian.
