More People Eligible for H1N1 Flu Vaccine
When the Central District Health Department (CDHD) opens the doors to its Point of Dispensing (POD) clinic Monday, more people will be eligible to get the H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine. Because of increasing vaccine supplies, Idaho health officials have agreed to make the vaccine available to all people under the age of 65.
CDHD will have 2100 doses of H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine available Monday December 7th at the POD located in the former Comp USA store, 1195 N Milwaukee St, Boise. The POD will operate from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. All the vaccine available Monday will be the injectable form. No nasal spray will be offered. CDHD plans to continue POD operations on Mondays through December 21st.
The Monday PODs are a good opportunity for parents with children younger than 10 years of age to bring their children in for the second dose of vaccine they need for full immunization against the H1N1 flu. The two doses must be separated by at least 28 days.
Santa Returns!
Back by popular demand is Santa Claus! Children will be able to visit with Santa at the flu clinic from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. after receiving their flu shots.
Back to School
CDHD is continuing with its school-based vaccination campaign in Boise and Meridian middle and high schools, and three private schools next week. Planners are scheduling schools through January and will extend into February soon.
