Pediatric Seasonal Flu Clinic Scheduled

The Central District Health Department (CDHD) has just received a shipment of pediatric seasonal flu vaccine and will be offering a special walk-in clinic on Monday October 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Milwaukee Point of Dispensing (POD) site, the former Comp USA store, 1195 N Milwaukee Street – not at the health district office.

This clinic will be for seasonal flu only.

No H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine will be available.

“We know that seasonal flu vaccine has been in short supply,” said Teresa Collins, RN, Program Manager of Immunizations at CDHD. “So we were thrilled when this shipment came in ahead of schedule. Now we just want to serve the many families who have been asking about seasonal flu vaccine as soon as possible.”

The seasonal flu clinic will be open to all children ages 6 months to 18 years on a first come-first served basis. No adult seasonal flu vaccine will be available. The vaccine is free and there will a $14.00 administration fee. CDHD will bill insurance, so please bring insurance or Medicaid cards with you. Children will be assigned the type of vaccine most appropriate for them as supply lasts, and supplies are limited to the doses listed below.

As with the H1N1 Point of Dispensing PODs, parents seeking seasonal flu vaccine for their children will be assigned a card with the type of vaccine their child will receive. The number of cards will match the number of doses of each type of vaccine and when the cards are out, all others waiting in line will be told the vaccine supply has been exhausted.

To expedite the process of getting a vaccine assignment, parents can download and fill out the Seasonal Flu Consent Form available at www.cdhd.idaho.gov in advance of arriving at the POD.

This is a one-time-only clinic and will not be repeated. For more information on the flu please visit the CDHD website at www.cdhd.idaho.gov or call the CDHD Flu Hotline at 321-2222.
