Ada County Has Another Probable H1N1 Infection - Two Previous Cases Confirmed
A 33-year-old Ada County woman is the latest to be reported with a probable case of H1N1 (swine flu) virus infection. The woman has received treatment and is being monitored by her health care provider. Her sample has been forwarded to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for confirmation.
Meanwhile, the CDC has confirmed both of last week’s Ada County probable flu tests as the H1N1 (swine flu) virus. The cases involved a baby girl less than a year old and a 13-year-old junior high student. Neither the child nor the teen were hospitalized and both have now recovered.
The confirmation of these two cases brings to 3 the total number of confirmed cases of H1N1 flu virus in the state of Idaho. There are now two probable cases, one in Madison County and the Ada County case announced today.
As of Tuesday May 12th, 26 flu cases remain under investigation with another 333 cases having tested negative for the H1N1 flu virus.
Symptoms of the H1N1 infection are similar to seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have also reported diarrhea and vomiting. People cannot contract the infection from eating pork.
If you, or a family member, are experiencing these symptoms you should consult with your health care provider for treatment options and testing. Only testing can determine whether you have the H1N1 flu virus.
