Foodbank, Humane Society and Meals On Wheels Team Up to Assist Families with Pets

The Idaho Foodbank, the Idaho Humane Society and Meals On Wheels have formed a unique partnership to help people feed their pets during this time of financial distress.

The effort started at the Humane Society when an increasing number of families began to drop off their pets because the families could not afford to feed them or because people were evicted from rentals for the inability to pay. Some families were going without food in order to feed their pets. And the problem is just as bad for seniors living on fixed incomes.

Idaho Humane Society board member Vangie Osborn recognized the need for assistance and brought together a group of concerned citizens to create Pet Food Pantry, an organized effort to collect donated pet food and distribute it to those in need through the existing networks at The Idaho Foodbank and Meals On Wheels.

Collection sites have been established all over Ada County. Click here for the list. The food will be collected and stored at Camp Bow Wow near the Foodbank.

Only sealed bags or canned food please.
