Sam Byrd is a former migrant farm worker who came to Idaho from Arizona in 1963. Along with his parents and four sisters, he worked in the fields of Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and California until he was 21. In 1976, he went to work for the Idaho Migrant Council as an outreach worker and later became its Executive Director.
Mr. Byrd currently serves as the director of the Centro de Comunidad y Justica, a non-profit, community-based organization. In addition, Mr. Byrd is the president of ˇDiversity Works!, a cross-cultural and organizational development consulting firm.
