West Nile Virus
West Nile virus is transmitted to people, birds and other animals by the bite of an infected mosquito.
Cryptosporidiosis
Cryptosporidiosis ("Crypto") is a diarrheal illness caused by Cryptosporidium parvum, a microscopic parasite that lives in the intestines of infected humans and animals. Disease outbreaks are most often associated with warm weather when people are swimming or otherwise recreating in the water.
Rabies
Rabies is a deadly viral infection which affects the central nervous system and is almost always fatal if early treatment is not initiated. In the United States skunks, bats, raccoons and foxes are the most common carriers of rabies.
Hanta Virus
This virus can cause a serious, often deadly, respiratory illness called Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome or HPS.
MRSA
Community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA). MRSA (mer-suh) can cause skin and soft tissue infections, which left undiagnosed and untreated, may lead to serious illness. MRSA is not a new condition and MRSA infections are treatable.
